Poker is a card game in which the players bet a fixed amount of chips. This amount is known as the pot and is divided between the players who have the highest and lowest hands. If two players have a tie, the pot will be divided among them equally. There are many variations of the game and many of them require that each player make an ante bet before seeing the cards in the hand. This prevents the game from running too long and keeps each player at least somewhat invested in each round.<\/p>\n
Depending on the game, each round has a dealer, who is responsible for dealing out cards to players and shuffling the deck. The dealer can be a player or a non-player and can be assigned this responsibility for the whole game. Normally, players take turns being the dealer and pass the dealer chip to a new player after each round. Certain betting rules apply based on the location of the dealer.<\/p>\n
The objective of a poker round is to have the best five-card hand. Once all players have made a wager, the round ends and the player with the highest hand wins the round.
